We are delighted to be recruiting for an Assistant Procurement Manager (Tenders) to join our forward thinking, motivated and well-respected Procurement Team. You will be responsible for undertaking and overseeing procurement activity across the Council and managing a team of six Procurement Officers. You will need to be fully conversant with Public Procurement legislation and able to provide training and support to the team and across the wider Council in relation to this.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council spends around £215 million per year buying a diverse range of goods, works and services to deliver the ambitious plans we have for our borough and its residents. We have circa 500 live contracts on our contract register and you will work closely with officers across the council to ensure the team is on track with the delivery of this work programme and that the register is always up to date. You will also work closely with the Assistant Procurement Manager (Contract Management) to ensure that contract management plans are in place which will assist in effective running of the contracts arranged by your team.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work.

Benefits

We offer an excellent total reward package, including:

  • A competitive salary starting at £48,226 and progressing up to £50,269
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years’ service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through the LGPS with ability to pay extra and plan for retirement.
  • Access to a number of other employee benefits including learning & development opportunities, a car lease scheme, discounts at high street and online retailers, an employee assistance programme and physiotherapy services.

And that’s not all – you can also work flexibly where you can work part of your week at home.
