Job summary

The PRIDE Academy is seeking an experienced Assistant Principal – Student Welfare, Behaviour and Attitudes to help lead our school, shape students' lives positively, and foster a supportive environment where individual needs are celebrated.

You will lead teaching and learning strategies to support welfare and behaviour, work with the Principal and SLT on school improvement, and provide high quality coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree-level qualification or higher.
  • Extensive SEMH/SEN experience and mental health needs awareness.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and staff development capability.
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge and practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of teaching and learning strategies for welfare and behaviour.
  • Create, promote and maintain a positive, inclusive and safe school culture.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and SLT on improvement planning and self-evaluation.
  • Undertake teaching commitment and provide coaching, mentoring and lesson observations.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations and academic excellence.
  • Engage with parents and external partners to support student learning.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and visionary AssistantPrincipal – Student Welfare, Behaviour and Attitudes to help lead ourschool. You will have the opportunity to shape students' lives positively,fostering a supportive environment where individual needs are celebrated andeducational success is prioritised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadand manage the development and implementation of teaching and learningstrategies to supportstudent welfare, manage behaviour effectively, and foster positiveattitudes towards learning.
  • Tocreate, promote and maintain a high quality, positive, inclusive, and safeschool culture and educational environment.
  • Towork closely with the Principal and SLT on strategic school improvementplanning and school self-evaluation to ensurecontinued development.
  • Toundertake a teaching commitment to promote outstanding classroom practiceand to sustain curriculum innovation. Shared responsibility for lessonobservations and providing high quality coaching, support and mentoring asappropriate.
  • Fostera culture of high expectations and academic excellence.
  • Collaboratewith colleagues, parents, and external partners to support studentlearning.

Key Requirements:

  • QualifiedTeacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Qualified todegree level and above.
  • Extensiveexperience with an excellent understanding of current theory and best practice in teaching andlearning, preferablywithin an SEMH or SEN setting with a strong understanding of the social,emotional, and mental health needs of students.
  • Excellent understanding of effective strategies for maintaining highstandards of learning behaviour, behaviour and discipline withinthe classroom and wider schoolcontext.
  • To demonstrate high-qualityleadership, including the abilityto lead, coach, motivate and enthuse others.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of best practice relating to childprotection and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, andinterpersonal skills.
