Job summary

Wayland Academy, a high-performing secondary school in Norfolk, seeks an Assistant Principal to join the Senior Leadership Team. The role focuses on improving SEND, attendance, behaviour, and overall pupil outcomes while contributing to strategic direction and school development.

The successful candidate will lead colleagues, influence teaching quality, and build partnerships with families and external partners, with a strong commitment to equality and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in education and school improvement.
• Strong ability to analyse performance data and set targets.

• Experience with SEND and inclusion provisions.
• Evidence of high standards in teaching and learning.
• Ability to develop strategic plans with senior teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive school improvement with the SLT and promote high standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.
• Strengthen SEND and inclusion provision and address barriers to learning.
• Lead line management, develop colleagues and deputise for the Vice Principal when needed.
• Contribute to tutor programmes and build partnerships with families and external agencies.
