Job description

We are looking for motivated and dynamic emergency care assistant practitioners who are able to work under pressure to join our dedicated and friendly team at Withybush General Hospital in the Accident and Emergency Department.

Main duties of the job

This exciting role offers opportunities to learn new skills and develop professionally within a positive, supportive, and challenging environment.

The rota involves a variety of shift patterns, including day/night duties, to accommodate individual and service requirements.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally encouraged to apply.

About us

Hywel Dda University Health Board is responsible for planning and providing NHS healthcare services across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and neighboring counties. Our 12,000 staff deliver primary, community, hospital, mental health, and learning disabilities services to nearly 400,000 people across a quarter of Wales.

Our facilities include four main hospitals: Bronglais General (Aberystwyth), Glangwili General (Carmarthen), Prince Philip (Llanelli), and Withybush General (Haverfordwest).

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Level 4 vocational qualification in a relevant healthcare-related subject or Certificate in Healthcare Support Worker Education
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above, or equivalent Level 2 qualifications
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development relevant to healthcare
  • Understanding of the HCSW Code of Conduct, All Wales Delegation guidelines, and the Band 4 Assistant Practitioner Governance Framework
  • Relevant clinical knowledge and understanding of procedures and treatment plans
  • Knowledge of legislation related to safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards
  • Knowledge of local statutory and voluntary services
  • Teaching or assessment qualification
Experience
  • Recent experience providing relevant clinical care
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including managing challenging situations
  • Experience with clinical skills such as catheter care, vital signs monitoring, blood glucose interpretation, wound care, and supporting RNs with wound management
  • Experience in palliative care and medication administration via various routes
Language Skills
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)

This role is subject to a DBS check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Salary range: £26,928 to £29,551 per annum, pro rata.
