Job summary

VINCI Building is seeking an Assistant Planner to support project programmes, track site progress and assist with tender bids. Working with a Senior Planner, you will help deliver against time objectives, identify risks, and communicate with multidisciplinary teams to keep programmes on track.

Key duties include maintaining schedules, providing regular progress reports, and ensuring compliance with VINCI Building standards and safety requirements across projects.

Qualifications

  • Some planning software experience, preferably P6 or Asta Powerproject.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate issues and liaise with teams.
  • Ability to produce accurate reports and programmes with good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Planner in providing planning services to ensure teams meet project time objectives.
  • Support development of project programmes and track site progress.
  • Identify and communicate project risks; work with the team to resolve issues.
  • Build strong relationships with Planning department, project teams and client teams.
  • Communicate with other disciplines to ensure understanding of roles in meeting the programme.
  • Ensure compliance with VINCI Building procedures, planning standards and safety requirements.
  • Provide detailed and accurate progress reports to project teams and clients.
  • Summarise project status for senior management and flag major risks and potential overruns.
  • Manage time workload to meet deadlines and raise early warnings of overload.
  • Support adherence to quality, safety and environmental requirements.

Job description

At VINCI Building, an Assistant Planner plays a crucial role to help create, track, and update building project schedules. Key duties include supporting project programs, tracking site progress, and assisting with tender bids.

The Role

  • Working with a Senior Planner, provide planning services ensuring the teams are delivering against project time objectives.
  • Have an understanding for each project the level of planning service and anticipated time allocation to provide that service.
  • Be involved in identifying, communicating and managing project risks. Collaborating with the team to solve any issues or problems.
  • Build strong internal and external relationship with the Planning department and broader project teams/Client team.
  • Communicating with other disciplines within production teams to ensure they are aware of their roles in meeting the programme.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and planning standards.
  • Provide detailed an accurate regular progress reporting to the project team and client as required.
  • Support the team to summarise projects status upstream to senior management, highlighting any unresolved major risks and potential overruns.
  • Manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met. Highlight any potential work overload/slackening to Line Manager as soon as it is apparent.
  • Ensure compliance with all current VINCI Building Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements.

Essential Criteria

  • Some Planning software expertise, preferably in P6 or Asta Powerproject.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture, services), commissioning.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues. Listen and capture concerns of others.
  • To have a keen eye for detail, to be able to produce accurate reports and programmes as requested in a timely manner.
  • Work in a safe manner at all time and plan safety into work activities.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of construction projects across a broad range of sectors, healthcare, commercial, industrial and mixed use developments.
  • Ability to manage own time and workload, managing the expectations of others.
  • Experience/expertise in Microsoft packages especially Excel and Powerpoint.
