Overview:

As the Assistant Operations Manager, you will be an energetic, versatile individual, with a breadth of relevant industry experience. You will play a vital role in ensuring all aspects of planning, support, training, and delivery of each expedition meets our high standards and contributes to an amazing experience for our travellers. Your contribution will help ensure we stay at the forefront of good practice and continue to improve in all areas of our expedition delivery. This is a varied and challenging role and you will be someone who thrives working closely with a team.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with our crew at home and overseas to review, implement and maintain key systems and processes e.g. risk management protocols, health & safety policies, and communication procedures
  • Contribute to the development of new and existing products, working with our partners to ensure high standards for all elements of provision including our impact.
  • Support and guide schools, local authorities, industry bodies and other stakeholders to ensure good practice and high standards are maintained
  • Contribute to our incident management & crisis response service; including, training, initial response*, ongoing support, reporting and review activities
  • Liaise with our Technical & Medical Advisors for specific advice
  • Coordinate the annual review process, including collating feedback and presenting insights for consideration
  • Contribute to leader and staff development and training
  • Support the recruitment, selection and training of our Expedition Leaders
    *On call on a rotational basis
Key Attributes for Success in This Role:
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the requirements of high quality, safe and impactful expeditions
  • Experience working within the wider outdoor/travel industry and/or the education system
  • Passion for responsible, sustainable, educational experiences and practices
  • Breadth of travel experience, including leading groups in challenging environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presenting confidently to large audiences
  • Strong team spirit and collaboration
  • A resourceful, solution-focused, approach to problem solving
  • Self-motivated and focused. Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities
