Job summary

Storal Newark Centre is seeking a casual Nursery Chef/Cook to provide essential support during periods of leave or absence, ensuring nutritious meals and safe kitchen practices.

You will work closely with the Nursery Cook, catering to dietary needs and upholding health and safety guidelines in a warm, home-from-home environment. The role offers 25 hours per week at £12.71 per hour.

Qualifications

• Dedicated, Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualified cook.
• Solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations (COSHH).
• Willing to deputise for the nursery cook during absences.

Responsibilities

• Cater for children with specific dietary needs.
• Maintain high standards of safety and hygiene in the kitchen.
• Ensure rich, stimulating eating experiences for all children.
• Maintain stock levels and rotate stock.
• Follow COSHH and other relevant guidelines.
• Deputise for the permanent Nursery Cook during absences.

How you’ll spend your time here

As a Casual Nursery Chef/Cook, you will provide essential support during periods of leave, absence, or when additional help is needed. Working closely with the Nursery Cook, you’ll assist in preparing nutritious, freshly made meals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene in the nursery kitchen at all times. Your flexibility and reliability will ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen during these periods.

Day to day you will find yourself;

• Catering for children with specific dietary needs
• Working to an extremelyhigh level when it comes to the relevantFood and Hygiene,Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety and Ofsted guidelines and regulations
• Ensuring thatall children have rich stimulating eating experiences
• Maintaining stock levels and ensuring stock rotation
• Following COSHH and other relevant guidelines
• Deputising for the permanent Nursery Cook in all absences with the expectation of deputising full time when this is required
