Job summary

Storal Learning Ltd. in Birmingham is seeking a Casual Nursery Chef/Cook to support the nursery kitchen during periods of leave or increased demand.

You will work with the Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious meals while upholding high safety and hygiene standards in a nursery setting. The role requires a Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification and experience in a commercial kitchen, with strong knowledge of safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen and assisting cook/chef.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and COSHH.
• Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Catering for children with dietary needs.
• Adhere to Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Ofsted guidelines.
• Ensure rich, stimulating eating experiences for all children.
• Maintain stock levels and rotation.
• Follow COSHH and related guidelines.
• Deputise for the Nursery Cook during absences, with potential full-time deputising.

How you’ll spend your time here As a Casual Nursery Chef/Cook, you will provide essential support during periods of leave, absence, or when additional help is needed. Working closely with the Nursery Cook, you’ll assist in preparing nutritious, freshly made meals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene in the nursery kitchen at all times. Your flexibility and reliability will ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen during these periods.

Day to day you will find yourself;

• Catering for children with specific dietary needs
• Working to an extremelyhigh level when it comes to the relevantFood and Hygiene,Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety and Ofsted guidelines and regulations
• Ensuring thatall children have rich stimulating eating experiences
• Maintaining stock levels and ensuring stock rotation
• Following COSHH and other relevant guidelines
• Deputising for the permanent Nursery Cook in all absences with the expectation of deputising full time when this is required
