James Fisher and Sons plc is seeking an Assistant Mechanical Technician to support assembly, manufacture and servicing of commercial and military products in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The role is full-time and permanent, with security checks required.

Qualifications

• National 4/5 qualifications in Mathematics, Design & Manufacture, Science, or related subjects.
• Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or workshop environment is desirable.
• Confidence using hand tools and small power tools safely and effectively.
• A strong practical aptitude with the ability to follow technical instructions, drawings, and procedures.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical products and equipment to a high standard, following work instructions, drawings, and quality requirements.
• Assist with testing, inspections, and functional checks to ensure products meet performance and customer specifications.
• Complete assembly, inspection, and test documentation accurately, maintaining clear records for each job.
• Operate tools and workshop equipment safely while supporting manufacturing, servicing, and maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment in line with QHSE standards.
