Job summary

Bright Selection Ltd. is recruiting an Assistant Manager for a premium retirement living community in Surrey. You will work closely with the General Manager, supporting the day-to-day running and helping to create a welcoming, well‑run environment for residents.

This role emphasises people leadership and requires managing front of house, housekeeping and operational teams, while building strong relationships with residents, families and external professionals.

Qualifications

• Management or supervisory experience within care, senior living, retirement living or a high-quality hospitality environment.
• A good understanding of older people's needs, safeguarding and resident wellbeing.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to operational management.
• Experience of budgets and financial management.
• An understanding of Health & Safety and risk assessments.
• The confidence to support sales, tours and resident engagement.
• Flexibility to work across the needs of a seven-day operation.

Responsibilities

• Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the community.
• Lead, motivate and support front of house, housekeeping and wider operational teams.
• Build positive relationships with residents, relatives and external professionals.
• Promote residents' independence, dignity and wellbeing.
• Recognise changes in residents' needs and help coordinate appropriate additional support.
• Support resident events and activities, helping to create an active and inclusive community.
• Assist with financial management, budgets and rent control.
• Support sales activity, including prospective resident tours and community outreach.
• Oversee Health & Safety, risk assessments and operational compliance.
• Coordinate maintenance and ensure consistently high standards across the building.
• Deputise for the General Manager when required.
