Job summary

Autonomy Plus Ltd is offering an Assistant Manager, maternity-cover, at our Children’s Residential Home in Chippenham. You will work with the Registered Manager to lead day-to-day operations, ensure safety, plan and review care, and support staff to deliver consistent, child-centered practice.

We value calm leadership, safeguarding, strong communication and flexible commitment, with 40 hours a week, six weeks’ annual leave and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Calm under pressure with a child-centred approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in coaching and developing staff.
• Understanding of behaviour as communication and applying positive support.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with children, families and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and maintain a safe, welcoming home.
• Create and manage staffing rotas reflecting assessed needs and safe staffing levels.
• Develop, review and quality-assure child-centred care plans, risk assessments and behaviour-support plans.
• Lead, coach and support staff through supervision and reflective practice.
• Complete quality-assurance audits and implement improvement actions.
• Promote children’s rights and meaningful participation in decisions about their lives.
• Work with families, social workers, education, health professionals and other partners.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns, incidents and complaints promptly.
