Job description

Job Title: Assistant Manager - Legal Managed Services

KPMG's Legal Operations and Transformation Services (LOTS) team supports clients in optimising their legal functions to achieve operational excellence.

There are two core service offerings within LOTS: a powered contracting practice based on Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) technology, and a legal operating model transformation service. As LOTS continues to grow through new client acquisitions, we are expanding our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to make a significant impact and shape this role.

We seek talented Assistant Managers to help grow our legal operating model transformation practice by managing and developing external client relationships and expanding our offerings.

The successful candidate will gain experience across the entire lifecycle of transformation projects and contribute to developing new offerings for KPMG. They will work closely with other KPMG LOTS teams globally and collaborate with services like CIOA and People in Change. The wider LOTS team focuses on legal technology and automation, offering opportunities to work across diverse client bases, including mid-market companies, FTSE listed firms, public sector organizations, financial services, and FMCG sectors.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing subject matter expertise and industry insights to clients undergoing legal transformation
  • Supporting and contributing to go-to-market strategies, collateral, methodologies, and alliance partner relationships
  • Leading workstreams within complex, multi-national client engagements involving multidisciplinary teams
  • Owning and developing micro service offerings, determining their direction and focus
  • Coordinating internal services (e.g., Procurement, Finance Transformation, CIO Advisory, Risk Consulting, Legal, People and Change) to deliver integrated solutions
Leadership & Management:

The role reports to the Head of Legal Operating Model Transformation. The primary goal is to support the development and growth of service offerings and methodologies within the practice. As the team expands, the candidate will contribute to fostering a positive team culture and supporting junior members. Additionally, they will assist with business development, marketing, and collateral creation for the UK and global LOTS business.

Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges:

The candidate should have a proven track record of engaging and managing stakeholders across various seniorities, functions, and industries. They will manage both internal and external stakeholders independently during ongoing engagements and strategic activities.

Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance:

The candidate will help grow and develop LOTS and KPMG Law practices, ensuring adherence to KPMG standards regarding risk and quality of work within their teams and workstreams.

Experience
Essential:
  • Experience managing workstreams or discrete programs independently, delivering quality work on time and within budget
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Facilitating stakeholder workshops to achieve outcomes
  • Conducting assessments, gap analysis, and road mapping exercises
  • Process mapping experience
Desirable:
  • Understanding legal, risk, and compliance issues
  • Knowledge of back-office functions and digitization drivers, risks, and opportunities
  • Experience supporting change management projects
  • Experience in business development activities like client meetings, proposals, and marketing
Technical Skills & Role Requirements:
  • Experience in in-house legal functions is preferred but not essential
  • Project management qualification is a plus but not required
Skills:
  • Effective communication and persuasive writing
  • Development of go-to-market propositions
  • Engagement and stakeholder management
  • Influencing stakeholders
  • Legal team engagement and coaching
  • Managing small teams to deliver high-quality outputs
