Job summary

BDO UK LLP is seeking an Assistant Manager within Risk Advisory Services to lead defined engagements, support planning and delivery, and coach junior team members. The role balances substantial management activities with hands-on audit work across diverse client engagements, with travel to client sites as required.

You will collaborate with managers, directors and partners to deliver high-quality assurance services.

Qualifications

• Experience in internal audit or risk and assurance engagements.
• Proactive, critical thinker, able to challenge risks and controls.
• Experience in risk management or controls testing across client environments.
• Professional qualification or working towards CIA/CMIIA/MIIA/CCAB.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisation and time-management; manage multiple engagements.
• Collaborative, coaching juniors; travel to client sites; interest in data analytics / AI-enabled audit techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead defined engagements or workstreams, supporting planning and delivery.
• Balance management activities (planning, portfolio oversight) with hands-on audits and specialist work.
• Develop junior team members and build trusted client relationships.
• Coordinate with Managers, Directors and Partners; liaise with client stakeholders.
• Travel to client sites as required and contribute to improving delivery and quality.
