Job summary

Compass Group UK&I’s Costa unit is seeking an Assistant Cafe Manager to oversee cafe operations with a focus on exceptional service and smooth kitchen and counter flow. You’ll oversee shift patterns, support the manager with inventories and budgets, and lead by example to inspire a high-performing team.

You’ll be responsible for tills, payments, staff development, and maintaining a positive brand image across our Costa venue.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced cafe environment.
• Strong customer service focus with a track record of delivering memorable guest experiences.
• Experience in stock management, waste control, and budget monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between team and manager to ensure we exceed expectations.
• Motivate the team and keep everyone on task.
• Assist manager with inventories, budgets, and action plans.
• Manage tills and process payments accurately.
• Train and support teams, leading from the front to ensure excellence.
• Assist with paperwork as required.

We're recruiting an experienced Assistant Cafe Manager who is passionate about exceptional food and world-class customer service, and who can confidently oversee all Compass Group UK&I catering and service operations for a major High Street brand on a full time basis, contracted to 40 hours per week.

As an Assistant Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our kitchens and service counters run smoothly and helping to deliver truly incredible food experiences. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Liaising between the team and manager to ensure we continually exceed expectations
• Motivating the team to keep everyone on task
• Assisting the manager with managing inventories, monitoring budgets and implementing action plans
• Managing the tills and processing payments
• Supporting and training our teams, leading from the front to make sure everyone can excel in their role
• Assisting with paperwork when required
• Representing Compass Group UK&I and maintaining a positive brand image
