Sewell Wallis are partnering with a growing business in Barnsley seeking an Assistant Management Accountant. You will work closely with the Financial Controller, handling management accounts and providing insights to drive performance.

The role is heavily month-end focused, offering training to broaden your finance exposure and a path to progression. Study support and flexible hours are part of the package, with potential for next steps within the team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a similar role.
• Working towards a recognised accounting qualification (AAT or equivalent).
• Strong IT knowledge, especially in Excel and accounting systems.
• Attention to detail
• Financial awareness
• The ability to build relationships through effective communication.
• A quick learner with the ability to retain and implement information and deliver the required outputs.

Responsibilities

• Produce management accounts alongside the Management Accountant.
• Liaise with site teams and operational managers to gather reporting information.
• Present figures in monthly meetings with operational leaders against budgeted expectations.
• Support delivery of regular reporting, analysis and insights to forecasts, budgets and business plans.
• Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts.
• Prepare cost and project analysis with project teams to understand operations.
• Post centrally controlled costs (e.g., fuel, recharges, travel).
• Raise sales invoices in a timely manner.
• Assist with data for the annual statutory audit.
• Support continuous improvement through system processes and management information.
