Job summary

Sewell Wallis is recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant on a 12‑month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. You will join a busy finance team in Sheffield, supporting month‑end and wider accounting processes with a proactive, detail‑focused approach.

The role offers hybrid working (3 days on site) with free parking and a varied remit across the finance function. Immediate start or short notice period preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process.
• Prepare and post journals.

• Support the Finance Manager with wider duties and ad hoc reporting.
• Ensure financial information is accurate, complete and deadlines are met.

Job description

Sewell Wallis is currently recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join a busy and established people-centric organisation based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a supportive finance team and play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the month-end and wider financial accounting processes.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting the month-end close process
• Preparing and posting journals
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Processing and posting sales ledger invoices
• Preparing and maintaining accruals and prepayments, including utilities
• Supporting the Finance Manager with wider finance duties and ad hoc reporting
• Ensuring financial information is accurate, complete and processed within agreed deadlines

What are we looking for?

• We're looking for a QBE or part-qualified Management Accountant with a strong understanding of month-end processes and financial accounting.
• Strong communication, both verbal and written.
• You’ll be a proactive and organised individual, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
• Short notice period, immediate start or 1 week's notice.
