Job summary

ICAEW in Worcester is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a close-knit finance team. You will start by gaining a strong understanding of transactional processes and progressively take on month-end, reporting and analysis responsibilities.

The role offers study support (ACCA/CIMA path), exposure to audit and month-end processes, with clear progression opportunities within a 37.5-hour week.

Responsibilities

• Support transactional finance activities and gain understanding of financial processes
• Prepare prepayments, accruals and journals
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Support WIP accounting and analysis
• Assist with monthly management accounts process
• Support month-end close and financial reporting
• Produce and analyse financial and operational reports
• Support costing, margin analysis and cost-control activities
• Maintain fixed asset register and assist with asset reconciliations
• Support cash-flow forecasting
• Assist with year-end audit requirements
• Collaborate with stakeholders across finance and operations
• Drive improvements to finance processes, systems and data
• Grow involvement in management accounting activities as experience develops

Are you looking to take the next step in your finance career and gain broader exposure to management accounting?

Your new role

Joining a close-knit finance team of four, you will initially gain a strong understanding of the company's transactional finance processes before gradually taking on greater responsibility across month end, reporting and analysis.

• Supporting transactional finance activities and gaining a detailed understanding of the company's financial processes
• Preparing prepayments, accruals and journals
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Supporting WIP accounting and analysis
• Assisting with the monthly management accounts process
• Supporting the month-end close and financial reporting
• Producing and analysing financial and operational reports
• Supporting costing, margin analysis and cost-control activities
• Maintaining the fixed asset register and assisting with asset reconciliations
• Supporting cash-flow forecasting
• Assisting with year-end audit requirements
• Working closely with operational and finance stakeholders
• Supporting improvements to finance processes, systems and data
• Becoming increasingly involved in management accounting activities as your experience develops

What you’ll need to succeed

• Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant, Finance Officer or similar role
• Exposure to prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
• Previous exposure to WIP/work-in-progress accounting
• Some understanding of month-end processes, or a strong desire to develop within this area
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• A proactive attitude and genuine desire to learn and progress

You may be AAT qualified/studying AAT and looking to begin ACCA or CIMA, or already part-qualified ACCA/CIMA. Previous manufacturing experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
