Job summary

Transaction Recruitment Ltd. in Worcester is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing finance team. You will support monthly management accounts, posting journals, and assist with costings and margin analysis to drive informed business decisions.

The role offers study support for ACCA or CIMA and a clear progression path to Management Accountant, with exposure to KPIs, dashboards, and cash-flow forecasting in a developing environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience (e.g. AAT)
• Currently studying towards ACCA or CIMA
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with good Excel knowledge
• High attention to detail with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in a finance environment; exposure to accounting systems/ERP is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including posting journals (accruals and prepayments)
• Assist with costing activities and provide analysis to support business decision-making
• Assist in delivering a timely and accurate month-end close process
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Maintain the fixed asset register (additions, disposals, depreciation)
• Produce and analyse financial and operational reports for decision-making
• Develop and monitor KPIs and performance dashboards
• Identify financial trends, risks and opportunities; provide actionable insights
• Provide financial support and business partnering to key stakeholders
• Assist with costing, margin analysis and pricing decisions
• Support cost control initiatives and collaborate with operations to understand cost drivers
• Contribute to cash flow forecasting and related reconciliations

What We Are Looking For

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (e.g. AAT or early career in finance)
• Currently studying, or intending to study, towards a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• High level of attention to detail, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Previous internship, placement, or experience within a finance environmentExposure to accounting systems or ERP platforms is advantageous
