Job summary

The Fragrance Shop in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team. This hands-on role contributes to monthly and quarterly reporting and supports management decision-making in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will work on multi-channel reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc commercial analysis while pursuing a professional qualification such as CIMA/ACCA/ACA. Flexi-working, onsite gym and staff discounts are part of the package.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of Excel and MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Organised, methodical with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Driven to succeed with finance experience.
• Good academic background; degree level preferred.
• Study support towards CIMA/ACCA/ACA may be available.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the management accounts team to assist in the production of monthly management accounts in a multi-channel reporting format.
• Accounting responsibility for key overhead areas and providing insightful analysis.
• Assist with the daily sales postings and other tender reconciliations.
• Assist with Balance Sheet reconciliations and other key controls.
• Ad hoc duties across the Finance department (to widen experience and knowledge base).

Role overview

This is a hands‑on role in a fast-paced, results-driven organisation where innovation and a practical, solution‑oriented approach are critical. As a key member of the finance team, the successful candidate will contribute to monthly & quarterly reporting and provide ad-hoc information to support management decision making. They will support the demands of the business in this exciting phase of growth, shaping changes to critical financial systems and processes within the organisation. The role will suit someone who wants to develop and gain a financial qualification whilst gaining excellent hands‑on experience and commercial exposure in a busy retail finance function.

• Previous experience of working in a busy finance department.
• Good academic background, ideally degree level.
• Study support towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA) may be available for the right candidate, subject to business requirements and performance.
