Job summary

RBH Hospitality Management is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager for Crowne Plaza London Docklands in East London. Support the Maintenance Manager with day-to-day operations across guest areas, plant rooms and back-of-house spaces to keep services running smoothly.

You will oversee planned maintenance, respond to issues quickly, help with building system checks (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and support compliance and safety checks.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance or engineering experience in hotel or commercial environment.
• Good practical knowledge of general building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.
• Experience supervising or supporting a maintenance team would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and statutory compliance requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Maintenance Manager with the day-to-day running of the hotel Maintenance department.
• Carry out and oversee planned preventative maintenance across guest bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, plant rooms and external areas.
• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance issues and breakdowns, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to guests and operations.
• Carry out routine inspections of the hotel building, equipment and facilities, identifying defects and ensuring corrective action is taken.
• Allocate and monitor maintenance tasks to team members, ensuring jobs are completed to the required standard and within agreed timescales.
• Support the management of the hotel's maintenance reporting and job-tracking system, ensuring outstanding works are appropriately prioritised and followed through to completion.
• Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of key building systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, boilers and other mechanical equipment.
• Support regular checks and testing relating to fire safety systems, emergency lighting, water temperatures, legionella controls and other statutory compliance requirements.
