Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Assistant Lighting Designer to contribute to projects across Commercial, Urban Realm, Transportation, Infrastructure, Healthcare and Education sectors. Join our Lighting and Energy Solutions team to develop lighting concepts, produce designs and reports, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while advancing your CPD through training and site involvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience with lighting design concepts in a consultancy or architectural environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Understanding of lighting design principles and delivery across project types.
  • Interest in creative lighting concepts that communicate ideas through storytelling.
  • Experience supporting team members and willingness to learn from seniors.
  • Collaborative approach with attention to detail across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with DIALux Evo, Revit/AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and presenting lighting concepts and design strategies across project stages.
  • Produce lighting designs, sketches, calculations, and specifications; assist in design reports and schematics.
  • Participate in client discussions with support from senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to detailed design drawings, luminaire detailing, and integration with architecture.
  • Support development of project documentation for planning, tenders, construction packages and as-built documents.
  • Stay updated on standards, legislation and industry best practices; engage in CPD and training.
