Job summary

The Big Fresh Catering Company, operated by Vale of Glamorgan Council, is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Kitchen Manager for Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg. You will supervise the kitchen in the Kitchen Manager's absence and help run a large-scale operation serving around 1000 meals daily.

Role is 5 days a week, 30 hours, term-time only, with DBS checks required. Prior experience in busy catering and a commitment to quality service are essential.

Qualifications

• Staff supervision experience in catering.
• Ability to plan and organise kitchen operations.
• Use initiative in day-to-day running of kitchen.
• Minimum 2 years practical cooking experience in a busy catering environment (last 3 years).
• Commitment to providing a quality catering service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.
• Supervise kitchen staff to meet service objectives.
• Ensure efficient planning and organisation of kitchen workflows.
• Maintain hygiene, safety and quality standards in a high-volume site.
• Support large-scale catering for around 1000 meals daily.

Pay Details:

Grade 4, SCP 6-7 £26,847 - £27,274 Pro Rata

5 Days - 30 hrs per week, term time only

Applicants will be responsible for the daily running of the kitchen in the absence of the Kitchen Manager and should preferably have experience of large scale catering.

You will need:

• Ability to supervise staff to achieve the service objectives
• Ability to plan and organise the kitchen to its full potential
• Be able to use their own initiative in the day to day running of the kitchen
• At least 2 years practical cooking experience in a busy catering environment within the last 3 years.
• Firm commitment to providing a quality catering service.
