Job summary

The Vale of Glamorgan Council, in partnership with The Big Fresh Catering Company, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations in a busy school catering environment.

You will supervise staff, plan and organise the kitchen, and run the site in the Kitchen Manager's absence. The role is 30 hours per week, term time only, based at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg with DBS check required and a commitment to high-quality school meals.

Qualifications

• Ability to supervise staff to achieve the service objectives.
• Ability to plan and organise the kitchen to its full potential.
• Be able to use their own initiative in the day to day running of the kitchen.
• At least 2 years practical cooking experience in a busy catering environment within the last 3 years.
• Firm commitment to providing a quality catering service.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily running of the kitchen in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.
• Should preferably have experience of large scale catering.
