Job summary

ARV Solutions Contracts in Derby is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team across a range of construction projects.

The role is ideal for a graduate, trainee or early-career QS looking to develop skills in cost management, procurement and contract administration within offsite construction schemes. Hybrid working is offered, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Quantity Surveying, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee QS role, or a relevant degree qualification.
• Good understanding of construction and commercial principles.
• Competent numerical and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of measurement and cost management processes.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial construction role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion
• Support the preparation of measurements, cost plans and project budgets
• Assist with valuations, variations and final account preparation
• Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
• Support cost reporting and forecasting activities
• Work closely with project and site teams to monitor project performance
• Assist with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
• Develop an understanding of JCT and NEC contracts and commercial processes

Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Derby

Salary: 30,000- 40,000 DOE

This role would suit a graduate, trainee or early-career QS looking to develop their commercial skills within a supportive environment, gaining exposure to cost management, procurement and contract administration across innovative offsite construction schemes.

We are working with a specialist offsite construction contractor delivering unique projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team across a range of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion
• Support the preparation of measurements, cost plans and project budgets
• Assist with valuations, variations and final account preparation
• Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation

Desirable:

• Experience within offsite construction, MMC, timber frame or structural steel projects
• Exposure to JCT and NEC forms of contract
• Experience working for a contractor or subcontractor environment
• Working towards a Quantity Surveying qualification or professional accreditation
