Job summary

Orbital Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for our Derby-based civil engineering client. The role is split between office and project sites, with standard hours 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

Freshly qualified or working towards a degree, you will support a varied range of schemes from £100k to £5m in value and have a full UK driving licence. You'll prepare valuations, manage variations and monitor costs, while working with site teams, project managers and clients on groundworks,

Qualifications

• Freshly qualified or working towards a quantity surveying degree.
• Knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts would be of benefit.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Commercially support civil engineering projects from start through to final account.
• Prepare valuations and applications for payment.
• Manage variations and compensation events.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts and margins.
• Manage subcontractor packages and accounts.
• Work closely with site teams, project managers and clients.
• Support projects across groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete and external works.

We're looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Derby-based civil engineering client. This role is ideal for those who are still in the process of achieving their degree, or those who are freshly qualified.

The business works across groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete and external works projects, so you'll be supporting a varied mix of schemes rather than being tied to one type of work. The projects our clients work on vary from £100k - £5m value.

The role will be split between the office and project sites. Standard hours are 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

What we're looking for

• Freshly qualified or working towards a quantity surveying degree
• Some knowledge of civil engineering would be of benefit
• Knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts would be of benefit
• Some experience with valuations, variations, cost reporting and subcontractor accounts would be of benefit
• Confident working across both office and site environments
• Full UK driving licence
