Job Title: Assistant HR Officer

Starting Salary: £26,835 opportunity to progress to £30,060 pa per annum (pro rata for part time) – pay award pending

Hours: 37.0

Location: Stevenage

Contract Type: Permanent

About The Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Transactions Management Team as an Assistant HR Officer supporting the delivery of a high-quality payroll and contract production service to Schools, Academies, Council departments, and traded companies.

This role is part of an experienced, dedicated team working in a fast-paced environment.

About The Role

A key responsibility is to process payroll changes in the SAP system, including new starters and contractual changes. You will also produce contracts of employment and variation letters.

You will cover both Schools and Non-Schools, with assigned workloads and deadlines. Ensuring system changes are accurate through validation exercises and participating in monthly net pay checks before payroll signoff are also part of the role.

About You

Essential:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft applications
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of local government terms and conditions
  • Experience with SAP system

This role offers an opportunity to enhance HR and Admin skills within a Local Government environment, ideal for an organised, proactive individual with strong administrative skills in a deadline-driven setting.
