Job summary

Yusen Logistics is seeking an Assistant HR Advisor to join the HR Business Support team at the Northampton GP2 site (NN4 5FB). Based in Northampton, you will report to the Head of HR Business Support and work closely with HR Advisors.

You will manage the HR Business Support mailbox, record and analyse employee relations and absence data, provide documentation to managers and employees, assist with restructures, and take meeting minutes. Travel to sites across Northamptonshire is required.

Qualifications

• Proven administrative experience.
• Preferably CIPD qualified or working towards level 3.
• Experience working independently and taking initiative.
• Ability to analyse issues and propose solutions.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Understanding of employment law, esp. disciplinary, absence, equality.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for an Assistant HR Advisor to join our HR Business support team. Internally, this role is known as Development HR Advisor.

In this role, you will be reporting to the Head of HR Business Support and will be working closely with HR Advisors by observing ER case management, supporting in relevant meetings and managing the HR Business Support inbox. Therefore, we are looking for a proactive individual with good attention to detail who is passionate about supporting the business and delivering excellent service.

You will be based at our Northampton GP2 site (NN4 5FB) and will be required to attend the office 3 times a week. A critical part of this role is to maintain a positive presence at our sites, therefore, there will be a requirement to visit sites across Northamptonshire to support business activities and development in the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Assistant HR Advisor to manage the HR Business Support Mailbox in a timely fashion, ensuring escalations to the wider HR team are made as required.
• Complete necessary recording and analysis of employee relations and absence activity in an accurate and timely manner.
• Provide supporting documentation to managers and employees in line with policy / procedural expectations.
• Assist HR Advisor activities during business restructures / changes.
• Take accurate and appropriate meeting minutes, ensuring subsequent actions are carried out to meet both company and legal requirements for a fair and consistent procedure.
• Facilitate good relationships with managers, employees and TU colleagues.
• Work towards providing independent advice to support relevant managers, colleagues and line managers in relation to Yusen people management activities as required.
• Work closely to support HR Advisors with managing projects, timelines and case management.
• Attend externally provided Employment Law updates / webinars / seminars as appropriate.
• Undertake all required training and development programmes implemented by the company to ensure compliance with business objectives.
• Work towards being able to support managers with their understanding of Yusen procedures and HR best practice by providing advice, coaching and training as appropriate.

What You Will Bring To The Role

• Proven and relevant administrative experience.
• Preferably CIPD qualified or working towards level 3.
• Experience of working independently using own initiative to complete tasks and projects.
• Ability to analyse issues and work productively towards a suitable solution.
• Inquisitive mindset and a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Understanding of employment law, particularly relating to disciplinary, absence management and equality.
