Job summary

Okehampton Primary School and Foundation Unit invites applications for an Assistant Headteacher to lead the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One, including early reading through the Read, Write, Ink scheme. As a senior leader you will secure high-quality provision, teaching and outcomes, model best-practice EYFS, and promote inclusion and safeguarding.

The Assistant Headteacher will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One (including early reading through the Read, Write, Ink scheme) at Okehampton Primary School. As an integral member of the senior leadership team and with the support and direction of the Headteacher, the post holder will secure high‑quality provision, teaching and outcomes for all children, laying strong foundations for lifelong learning. The role includes leading staff, curriculum, assessment and transition, while modelling excellent early years practice and promoting the school’s ethos, values and commitment to inclusion and safeguarding. This role holds a teaching responsibility of 0.6 through which exceptional early years practice can be modelled.

The successful candidate will be required to come to DMAT Central Offices to complete mandatory training.

Training Details:

Location: DMAT Central Offices Okehampton, Devon

Purpose: To provide comprehensive training on company policies, procedures, and systems necessary for successful integration into the role.

Training Schedule: Daily sessions from 9am to 4pm, with breaks provided.
