Job summary

Harlington School invites applications for an experienced leader to become Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour, Culture and Inclusion on a one-year maternity cover. Responsibilities

• Supporting the implementation and quality assurance of behaviour systems, routines and expectations across the school.
• Working with pastoral and curriculum leaders to promote consistency in responses to behaviour.
• Using behaviour and attendance data to identify patterns, vulnerable cohorts and students requiring early intervention.
• Developing and monitoring targeted interventions for students at risk of repeated incidents, suspension, absence or disengagement.
• Supporting inclusion planning, reintegration and alternative provision where appropriate.
• Leading the school’s strategic and operational approach to attendance, including accountability for actions and evaluating impact.
• Coaching and supporting staff to build confidence and consistency in behaviour management.
• Promoting a positive culture built around high expectations, relational practice and safeguarding.
• The postholder will also remain a classroom practitioner, modelling high-quality teaching and professional standards.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and committed school leader to join Harlington School as Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour, Culture and Inclusion on a one-year maternity cover.

This is a key leadership role supporting the school’s whole-school approach to behaviour, culture, attendance and inclusion. The successful candidate will work closely with pastoral, curriculum, safeguarding, SEND and attendance teams to ensure students receive the right balance of challenge, care and targeted intervention.
