Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Mansfield is seeking an experienced Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral to join our senior leadership team. This permanent, full‑time role leads on behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing, working with the Headteacher to shape the pastoral vision.

You will develop staff through performance management, analyse data to drive improvement and deputise for the Headteacher when required.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
  • Leadership experience within a school setting.
  • Proven track record of improving behaviour and pastoral provision.
  • Experience with SEN/SEMH environment desirable.
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills.

Salary: Leadership Scale L4–L8 (£55,747–£61,534), dependent on skills and experience

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral to join our senior leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an established leader to make a significant impact on the lives of young people by leading on behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Working closely with the Headteacher, you will play a key role in shaping the school's pastoral vision, ensuring that every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential within a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the school's pastoral provision, including behaviour and attendance.

  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.

  • Support the strategic leadership and continuous improvement of the school.

  • Lead, manage and develop staff through effective performance management and professional development.

  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement and student outcomes.

  • Analyse and use data to monitor performance and drive school improvement.

  • Support the day-to-day leadership of the school and deputise for the Headteacher when required.

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting.

  • A strong track record of improving behaviour, attendance and pastoral provision.

  • Experience working within an SEN and/or SEMH environment (desirable).

  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.

  • Outstanding communication, organisational and leadership skills.

  • The ability to inspire, motivate and support both staff and pupils to achieve their best.
