The Stourport High School & Sixth Form College is seeking an inspirational leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher – Curriculum & Teaching. This role shapes our academic offering and drives pedagogical excellence across classrooms to ensure the highest levels of achievement and progress for all students.

Responsibilities

• Embodies the values, vision and ethos of The Stourport High School & Sixth Form College and Severn Academies Educational Trust.
• Assist the Headteacher and SLT in delivering policy to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Develop, maintain and implement clear improvement plans in relation to curriculum and teaching.
• Embed current policy and practice and develop QA systems around learning principles, feedback, routines for learning, home learning, learning behaviours, modelling good practice and digital practice.
• Promote the Trust’s wellbeing principles and safeguard practices.
• Lead the Strategic Professional Learning programme and monitor Department Development Plans.
• Oversee budgets and staffing within Teaching and Learning Policy and Training calendars.
• Coordinate events such as Open Evenings, Options Evenings and New Staff Induction.
• Promote a safe, inclusive environment and ensure high aspiration for all pupils.
• Track academic achievement to inform future planning and contribute to school priorities.
• Be a visible, supportive senior leader with commitment to safeguarding and continuous improvement.

The Stourport High School & Sixth Form College is seeking an inspirational, driven, and visionary leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher – Curriculum & Teaching.

Working closely with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Trust Leaders, and the Local Governing Body, you will play a central role in delivering a robust school improvement plan that fosters a collaborative, ambitious, and high-performing learning culture. As the strategic lead for Curriculum & Teaching, you will shape our academic offering, drive pedagogical excellence across every classroom, and ensure the highest levels of achievement and progress for all students.

As a professional in a learning community you will be expected to enhance the life of the school by actively contributing to the work of the teams of teaching, pastoral and support staff, being reflective in your own practice and effectiveness, sharing with and learning from the good work of others and constantly seeking ways to improve through innovation and research. SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Drive whole-school curriculum implementation through a robust pedagogical approach and quality assurance of learning behaviours.
• Oversee whole-school subject intent, including alternative offerings through "The POP!" in conjunction with the Director of Student Services.
• Act as the strategic lead for the Disadvantaged Strategy, managing the rationale, expenditure, and monitoring the learning and progress of Pupil Premium students.
• Lead the strategy for whole-school literacy (Reading and Writing), as well as the strategy for Homework and Remote Learning.
• Lead the Subject Review process overseeing regular reviews of standards within, and across, subject areas.
• Ensure that there is a constant cycle of review, improvement and evaluation in all subject areas and for individual teachers.
• Direct the Strategic Professional Learning programme, including teacher-stage PL and the Middle
• Manage the operational running of the school in the absence of the Headteacher and Director of Student Services.
• Execute the monitoring cycle, including learning walks, coaching, mentoring, and the evaluation of Department Development Plans.
• Manage staff absence, agency staff requirements, and daily cover operations.
• Coordinate high-profile events including Open Evenings, Options Evenings, and the New Staff Induction process.
• Oversee budgets associated with the Teaching and Learning Policy and the Professional Learning/Training schedule.
• Manage the staff briefing schedule, meeting cycles, and the Training/INSET calendar.
• Promote and ensure challenge and rigour for more able students across and beyond the curriculum.
• Ensure a broad range of learning experiences in and outside of the classroom are available to all students through a balanced curriculum offer.
• Coordinate PGCE/SCITT placements and maintain Quality Assurance systems and standards.
• Inspire, motivate and influence staff to reach the highest standards in all respects.
• To be a good role model for all staff and students and be a visible, supportive and challenging senior leader.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that meets the diverse needs of pupils.
• Tracking academic achievement to inform future planning.
• Contribute to whole-school priorities as identified by SLT.
• Uphold the ethos, values, and policies of the school at all times.
