The Stourport High School and Sixth Form College is seeking an outstanding Curriculum Area Lead for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to design and deliver a French and Spanish curriculum across KS3-5. The post leads a supportive team, with strategic oversight of assessment, curriculum planning, and performance improvements within the Severn Academies Educational Trust.

Learning a foreign language provides an opening to other cultures which is underpinned by high-quality language education that fosters pupils’ curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding, dynamic, and vision-driven Curriculum Area Lead for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) who is innovative, inspiring, and can design and deliver an authentic French and Spanish curriculum that engages our students. The successful candidate will share our values, be passionate about their subject, and lead an enthusiastic team of language educators.

The post holder will hold strategic oversight, accountability, and operational leadership for the preparation and delivery of French and Spanish across Key Stage 3-5, ensuring that all students make excellent progress through quality first teaching and robust curriculum planning. The successful candidate will line manage department colleagues, lead subject-specific CPD, monitor standards through quality assurance, and drive departmental performance and exam success at GCSE and A-Level. The post holder will demonstrate an ability to foster trust-wide collaboration, ensuring the continual improvement of the quality of students' learning remains at the top of the Trust's agenda.

We are looking for a leader who has:

• Proven experience in driving measurable improvements in student achievement, retention, and progress across key stages

• Demonstrated capacity to lead, line manage, and develop staff through coaching, performance management, and targeted CPD
• Commitment to their professional development and a culture of open professional dialogue
• Passion for combating social disadvantage and generating social capital
• Enthusiasm for innovation in curriculum design and data-informed assessment strategies

The post holder will demonstrate their commitment to their subject and how they can support the trust in fostering collaboration and staff subject development. They will play a key role in ensuring that the continual improvement of the quality of student's learning is at the top of the business agenda and will be responsible for developing the department to ensure its long-term success and sustainability.
