Job summary

Caravan Southbank in London is seeking an exceptional Assistant General Manager to lead our restaurant team as we open a new site. You will work with the General Manager to set the standard for health, safety and hospitality, and to develop a high-performing team focused on guest experience.

You’ll guide day-to-day operations, coach from the front, and actively contribute to achieving sales and service targets while maintaining Caravan values across a dynamic multi-floor venue.

Qualifications

• Proven hospitality leadership with ability to inspire a team.
• Experience delivering high guest experiences in a busy restaurant.
• Experience recruiting, onboarding and developing staff.
• Strong focus on culture, safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure food, drink and service standards are consistently delivered.
• Recruit, onboard and develop confident, high-performing teams with clear training and development plans.
• Drive sales, labour, GP and wastage targets while protecting Caravan culture.
• Manage systems including Fourth, Harri and All Gravy for rota, payroll and compliance.
• Maintain property standards, health & safety, and compliance with EHO/Food Alerts.
• Contribute to management meetings, audits and action plans.

Assistant General Manager

Caravan Southbank, London

Overall earnings from £46,000-£50,000 per year, plus bonus scheme

Full time

This November, we’re opening our tenth, and biggest, Caravan at the Southbank. And we’re looking for an exceptional Assistant General Manager to help lead our restaurant team. We’re after someone kind, confident and genuinely passionate about what they do. Someone who knows how to lead and inspire a team, is passionate about being a hospitality leader, and gets a kick out of helping their team develop and give their guests the best experience possible

You’ll be joining Caravan as we open a special new restaurant, with two floors, multiple bars and plenty of opportunity to make your mark from day one.

The role

As Assistant General Manager, you’ll work alongside your General Manager and the management team to make sure the day-to-day operation of the business runs brilliantly every day. That means setting the standard for health & safety, culture, hospitality and developing the team around you to make sure every guest that leaves the restaurant has the best experience possible. You’ll know how to lead from the front, when to coach and when to jump in and help get things moving.

What you'll be doing as Assistant General Manager

• Ensure our food, drink, and service standards are consistently delivered
• Recruit, onboard and develop confident, high-performing teams: making sure new hires feel welcome and everyone has clear training, reviews and development plans
• Drive sales, labour, GP, and wastage targets while protecting the Caravan culture
• Manage systems including Fourth, Harri and All Gravy to oversee the rota, payroll and compliance
• Maintain property standards, health & safety, and compliance with EHO/Food Alert
• Contribute to management meetings, audits, and action plans
