Job summary

Zachary Daniels Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Garment Technologist for a premium womenswear brand in Manchester. The hybrid role involves weekly home working and supporting senior technologists across development, fit sessions and production.

You will review garment construction, fabrics and fit, process technical specs and liaise with Design, Buying and Suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support Garment Technologists through product development from samples to production.
• Prepare samples for fit sessions, take notes and update fit comments.
• Measure and assess garments against technical specs and size charts.
• Maintain technical files, specifications and product records.
• Coordinate with Design, Buying and Production for clear communication.
• Review sample quality and escalate concerns as needed.
• Communicate with suppliers on fit, construction and quality comments.
• Assist with garment testing, care label approvals and compliance docs.
• Help meet critical path deadlines by tracking samples and approvals.
• Contribute to improvements in fit, quality and technical standards across collections.

Overview

Assistant Garment Technologist – Premium Womenswear Brand. Hybrid role with 1 day per week working from home. This position supports the Garment Technologists across premium womenswear collections to ensure products meet high standards for fit, quality and performance. Responsibilities

• Support the Garment Technologists throughout the product development process, from initial samples through to production.
• Assist with fit sessions by preparing samples, taking accurate notes and updating fit comments.
• Measure and assess garments against technical specifications and size charts.
• Help maintain accurate technical files, specifications and product records.
• Liaise with Design, Buying and Production teams to ensure clear communication throughout development.
• Review and monitor sample quality, construction and workmanship, escalating any concerns where necessary.
• Support communication with suppliers regarding fit, construction and quality comments.
• Assist with garment testing, care label approvals and product compliance documentation.
• Help ensure critical path deadlines are met by tracking samples and approvals.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in fit consistency, product quality and technical standards across collections.

About You

• Previous experience in a similar Junior Garment Technologist or Technical Assistant role across womenswear.
• A qualification in Clothing Technology, Fashion or a related discipline is desirable.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics and fit.
• Confident measuring garments and interpreting technical specifications.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across teams and with suppliers.
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience using PLM or product management systems being an advantage.
• Positive, collaborative and eager to learn, with a genuine enthusiasm for premium fashion.
