Job summary

Bruntwood invites applications for an Assistant Facilities Manager role in Birmingham City Centre. The post covers 37.5 hours weekly, across our Birmingham City Centre portfolio, Centre City, Cornwall, and Cornerblock.

You will work with a Facilities Manager to oversee a small team, ensure smooth daily operations, and maintain high standards of service and safety in our commercial spaces.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising a facilities team and understanding of building systems.

  • Exceptional customer service skills with initiative to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to think on your feet and propose innovative solutions.
  • Digitally savvy and comfortable using systems to monitor building performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on operational support and walkarounds to review onsite issues and troubleshoot.
  • Coordinate Facilities Team Members to run buildings and implement new processes.
  • Lead and develop a team of Facilities Team Members to empower first-time fixes.
  • Ensure planned preventative maintenance checks are completed and recorded.
  • Coordinate contractor activities, review RAMS, and manage permits and spot checks.
  • Carry out regular checks of vacant spaces to maintain high standards.
  • Proactively manage reactive works and remedial actions to close gaps promptly.
  • Build strong relationships with the customer experience team to deliver exceptional service.

Assistant Facilities Manager - Birmingham City Centre

This role is advertised for 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday), working across our buildings within Birmingham City Centre - Centre City , Cornwall and Cornerblock .

Working closely with a Facilities Manager, you’ll be overseeing the day to day of a small team across the Birmingham City Centre portfolio.

We are seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager with proven experience supervising a Facilities team and understanding of building systems.

  • Experience of supervising a facilities team with a basic experience of mechanical systems
  • A fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll get to know our buildings inside out, taking ownershipof challenges and driving for solutions
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on responding to requests, using your initiative to meet deadlinesand make sound decisions under pressure
  • Ability to think on your feet, bring creative and innovative solutions to the table
  • Digitally savvy and comfortable utilising systems and softwares to keep track of building performance

Job purpose:

As an Assistant Facilities Manager, you and your team will bring our spaces to life, being hands on and visible within our buildings to drive high standards and provide a safe environment for our customers to work in.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing hands-on operational support and conducting walkarounds to review onsite issues and troubleshootchallenges
  • Coordinating Facilities Team Members who run our buildings, helping them prioritise their daily workloads and assistin implementing new processes and procedures that enhance our service
  • Leading by example, supporting the management and development of a team of engaged Facilities Team Members,coaching to empower a first time fix
  • Making sure planned preventative maintenance checks are completed and correctly recorded in RiskWise alongsidecompliance documents provided by our supply partners
  • Coordinating contractor activities in our spaces, reviewing RAMS and managing any applicable permits, completingspot checks to make sure they are working to their method statement
  • Carrying out regular checks of vacant spaces to make sure they are maintained to a high standard - clean, tidy andviewing-ready for prospective customers
  • Proactively manage reactive works and remedial actions from maintenance visits and surveys to ensure they arecompleted in a timely manner.
  • Building strong working relationships with the building cluster’s wider customer experience team to promote acollaborative, customer-focused approach to deliver an exceptional level of service
