Job summary

Build Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Estimator in Birmingham to support the delivery of planned maintenance, refurbishment and retrofit programmes for housing associations and local authorities across the Midlands.

You will work alongside experienced Estimators and Commercial Managers, assisting with cost estimates, reviewing drawings and tender documentation, and preparing competitive tenders. This is a great step for developing an estimating career within social housing.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating or commercial roles within social housing is essential.
• Strong Excel skills and good commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Construction-related qualification or equivalent experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of accurate cost estimates for planned maintenance, refurbishment and retrofit works.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Support tender submissions from enquiry through to final submission.
• Work closely with commercial, operational and pre-construction teams throughout the bid process.
• Develop technical and commercial knowledge while working on long-term social housing frameworks.
