Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking an Assistant Estimator in London to join a leading specialist contractor's Pre-Construction team. You will support cost estimates, tender submissions and take-offs, while learning from Senior Estimators on major projects.

The role is ideal for someone moving from a site-based or commercial background who wants to develop their estimating career in reinforced concrete frames, civil engineering and related sectors.

Assistant Estimator

Location: London

Salary: £35,000-£50,000 (dependent on experience)

I'm currently working with a leading specialist construction contractor who is looking to recruit an Assistant Estimator to join their growing Pre-Construction team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move into estimating from either a site-based or commercial background, with the chance to develop their skills within a specialist construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparing cost estimates and tender submissions.

• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

• Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements.

• Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier quotations.

• Assist with pricing materials, labour, plant and equipment.

• Support the preparation of bills of quantities.

• Liaise with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors.

• Work alongside Senior Estimators throughout the tender process.

Requirements:

• Experience within construction, ideally from a site-based or commercial background.

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Site Engineer or Site Manager would be beneficial.

• Good understanding of construction methods and processes.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

• Strong numerical and organisational skills.

• A genuine interest in developing a career within estimating.
