Job Opportunity: Assistant Estimator at Willmott Dixon

Willmott Dixon is currently recruiting for an Assistant Estimator to join our London and East construction business. Based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, we deliver projects across multiple sectors within north London, the northern home counties, and East Anglia. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining remote and office-based work. Join our successful London & East business, which has a strong order book for the next 2 to 3 years.

Role Overview: As an Assistant Estimator, you will support in calculating build costs to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, accurate estimates that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create accurate cost plans through various design stages.
• Guide the design team and inform clients about affordability.
• Identify opportunities and risks, providing solutions to add value.
• Collaborate with project teams on alternative design solutions and present to clients.
• Develop procurement strategies aligned with project needs.
• Gain knowledge of key trade packages.
• Assist in tracking costing changes through the change control process.
• Understand contractual and framework requirements.
• Familiarity with estimating system (Conquest).
• Complete standard documentation and provide detailed cost packages at project handover.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

• Good numeracy, written, and spoken English skills.
• 5 GCSEs (A-C), including maths, or equivalent.
• Qualifications such as BTEC in Building Studies/Engineering or a HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management/Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Working towards MCIOB / MRICS qualification.
