Job summary

Recco in North London is seeking an Assistant Estimator to join its pre-construction team. You will help prepare tenders for high-end residential refurbishment and bespoke stonework packages, reviewing drawings and tender docs while analysing subcontractor and supplier quotes.

The ideal candidate has estimating experience in construction, exposure to luxury residential projects, and proficiency in Excel and estimating software.

Qualifications

• Previous estimating experience in construction is essential.
• Experience with main contractor, refurbishment contractor or specialist subcontractor preferred.
• Exposure to high-end residential refurbishment or luxury builds is desirable.
• Confident reading of drawings, specifications and tender docs.
• Good understanding of build costs and construction methods.
• Proficient in Excel and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing accurate and competitive tenders for high-end refurbishment projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender docs.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Assist with take-offs and pricing of materials and labour.
• Support preparation of detailed cost plans and tender submissions.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive prices.
• Assist Senior Estimators and wider commercial team in the tender process.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases.
• Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
• Attend site visits and tender meetings when required.

The Role

Our client is a specialist construction company based in North London, delivering high-end residential refurbishment projects and bespoke stonework packages across London. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an Assistant Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

The ideal candidate will already have estimating experience within the construction industry and be looking to develop their commercial and pre-construction skills within a specialist, high-quality environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders for high-end residential refurbishment projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules and other tender documentation.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Assist with material and labour take-offs and pricing.
• Support the preparation of detailed cost plans and tender submissions.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive prices.
• Assist Senior Estimators and the wider commercial team throughout the tender process.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
• Attend site visits and tender meetings when required.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with estimating software.
• Ambitious and keen to progress their career within estimating and pre-construction.
