Murphy is recruiting for an Assistant Environmental Advisor to work with the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework. The role is based in our Thurso office with flexible working patterns considered.

We offer extensive in-house expertise and opportunities within EPC projects across energy transmission and allocation, with a strong emphasis on health, safety, environment, and quality. Successful candidates will undergo DBS checks and must have legal right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• SHES membership or NEBOSH qualification.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Familiar with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Advise Managers and Supervisors to discharge Health & Safety responsibilities.
• Ensure personnel are aware of their statutory duties and provide advice as required.
• Assist management to ensure SHESQ Plans compliance.
• Carry out accident/incident investigations and recommend improvements.
• Manage and collate SHESQ data for continuous improvement.
• Assist and manage the audit programme; carry out audits when required.
• Participate in working groups/forums as required.
• Participate in committees and joint consultations affecting the workforce.
• Monitor equipment.
• Implement Best Practice and seek innovations within the Business Unit.

A day in the life of a Murphy Assistant Environmental Advisor

• Advise and aid Managers and Supervisors to discharge their Health & Safety responsibilities towards employees as defined by Legislation and Company procedure
• Ensure that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required
• Provide assistance to management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the SHESQ Plans.
• Carry out accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences
• Manage and collate the data on SHESQ related issues to find areas for continuous improvement through trends and data analysis
• Assist and manage the audit programme; carry out audits when required
• Participate in working groups / forums as required
• Participate in the work of committees and joint consultations affecting the workforce as required
• Monitoring of equipment
• Implement Best Practice and actively seeking innovations to introduce into the Business Unit

• Experience in civil engineering/construction.
• SHES Membership i.e. NEBOSH qualified
• MS package knowledge
• Understanding of the requirements of the ISO 9001, 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 standards.
