Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for an Environmental Advisor to join our Infrastructure team, delivering a major water infrastructure project in partnership with Thames Water under the AMP8 programme. You will support environmental management, ensure regulatory permits are in place, and liaise with site teams and stakeholders to safeguard biodiversity.

The role involves auditing, reporting, and training others on EMS and site environmental processes, with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Proven experience carrying out site audits/inspections and producing environmental reports.
  • Knowledge of implementing environmental controls to meet planning conditions (DCO).
  • Ability to lead investigations into environmental incidents.
  • Experience training others on EMS and environmental briefings (TBTs).
  • Some experience of waste management and KPI reporting.
  • Strong mathematical abilities and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Work with regulators to ensure permits and licenses are in place before works.
  • Support day-to-day environmental management of construction activities.
  • Liaise with site teams, clients, stakeholders and the environmental team.
  • Conduct environmental inspections and audits on site.
  • Interpret data and write detailed reports for stakeholders.

Job description

Murphy is recruiting for aEnvironmental Advisor to join our growing Infrastructure team, delivering a major water infrastructure project in partnership with Thames Water, as part of the AMP8 programme.

Murphy is a long-standing delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland, including Thames Water, Severn Trent, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water, SES Water, Bristol Water, South East Water, and Uisce Éireann, where we operate over 25 facilities under full DBOM contracts.

A day in the life of a Murphy Environmental Advisor
  • Working with regulators to ensure that all necessary permits, licences etc are in place prior to the start of works
  • Supporting the day-to-day environmental management of works associated with construction activities
  • Liaising with site teams, clients, stakeholders and the wider environmental team
  • Conduct environmental inspections and audits
  • Interpreting data and writing detailed reports
  • Keeping up to date with the most recent changes in environmental law
  • Creating waste management datasets
  • Ensuring that biodiversity recommendations are met on site and protected species are undisturbed
  • Reviewing relevant documents, including risk assessments, management plans, method statements and evidence relating to all proposed work activities
  • Conducting tool-box talks or other environmental briefings to site personnel and sub-contractors
  • Liaising with stakeholders and local authorities as required
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant Company and Joint Venture policies and processes.
