Job summary

Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Assistant Engineering Manager to join a major redevelopment programme at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.

This role supports engineering delivery, technical assurance, design management and coordination on a live, highly regulated project, with 45 hours per week and pay of £47.77–£54.45 per hour (PAYE/Umbrella). Lodge allowance available for candidates living more than 50 miles from site.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent (HND).
• Chartered Engineer status (MICE) preferred.
• CSCS card required.
• SMSTS qualification.
• Approximately 10 years in construction.
• Experience in a design environment.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering delivery and technical assurance across complex construction works.
• Review and manage technical risks from design through to construction.
• Promote Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
• Coordinate digital engineering and information management (BIM, ISO 19650, CDE).
• Maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants and supply-chain partners.
• Mentor engineers and support technical development within the team.
