Job summary
Bradford Council is seeking an Assistant Engineer or Engineer to join the Highway Maintenance team. The role covers planning, design and delivery of the annual carriageway resurfacing programme and related minor civil engineering contracts, with travel across the district.
You will need an HNC/D or NVQ Level 6 in Civil Engineering, post-qualification experience and a full driving licence. The post offers flexi-time, free parking, and an Local Authority pension scheme among other benefits.
Qualifications
- HNC/D or Technical NVQ Level 6 in Civil Engineering.
- Post-qualification experience.
- Full driving licence and ability to drive to sites across the district.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design and deliver the annual carriageway resurfacing work programmes
- Deliver associated advance minor civil engineering works contracts
- Assist with the procurement, award and administration of contracts
- Supervise works on site
- Assist with procuring surveys and analysing the resulting data
- Use survey results to inform scheme programmes and treatment types
- Work with internal and external stakeholders and partners
- Report to the Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer
