Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking an Assistant Electrical Technical Manager to join the Estates Team at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. The role is full-time and permanent, offering £42,000–£44,000 plus a benefits package.

You will support the Technical Manager in maintaining HV and LV electrical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with HTMs, BS 7671, and related regulations, while promoting best practice across the estate.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3/ ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Experience with LV distribution systems and electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Support HV/LV electrical distribution system maintenance.
• Act as Competent Person and as Authorised Person for electrical systems when trained.
• Provide technical support for complex electrical issues affecting the estate.
• Manage contractor activities, review risk assessments and permits to work.
• Support 24/7 maintenance services for the SPV at Portsmouth hospital.
• Ensure safe systems of work in line with HTMs, Codes of Practice and ISO 9001.
• Assist in site life-cycle and compliance plan delivery.
