Job summary

Equans is seeking an Electrical Assistant Technical Manager for Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. The role is full-time and permanent with a salary of £42,000–£44,000 plus benefits. You will support HV/LV electrical infrastructure, assist with inspections, and help maintain compliance across the estate.

Essential qualifications include NVQ3/ONC/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering and 18th Edition BS7671. Desirable: AP LV/HV, IOSH, City & Guilds 2391, driving licence, and hospital experience.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Experience with EICRs and BS 7671 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the management and maintenance of HV and LV electrical distribution systems.
• Carry out duties as Competent Person and, after training, as Authorised Person for electrical systems.
• Provide technical support and advice on estate electrical issues.
• Assist in managing specialist contractors and ensuring safety compliance.
• Support 24-hour maintenance service within Portsmouth University Hospital.
• Uphold HTM guidance, Codes of Practice, ISO 9001 and relevant legislation.
• Ensure contractor staff are competent and adhere to site procedures.
• Contribute to site life-cycle and compliance plans.
• Operate in patient and staff areas with due regard to health, safety and privacy.
