Trafford Council is recruiting Assistant Educational Psychologists to support the delivery of our Experts at Hand offer as part of SEND reforms. This role offers high-quality supervision, development opportunities and experience across individual, group, organisational and strategic levels in Trafford.
You will have a psychology degree, be eligible for Doctorate training, and bring strong communication and analytical skills.
Qualifications
- Hold a Psychology degree at 2:1 or above (or equivalent BPS-recognised qualification).
- Are eligible and committed to applying for Doctorate training in Educational and Child Psychology.
- Have significant experience working with children, young people and families in paid and/or voluntary roles.
- Can demonstrate how psychology has informed their practice.
- Have experience working in or alongside educational settings.
- Possess excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Are able to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively.
- Are enthusiastic, reflective and committed to inclusive practice.

Trafford Educational Psychology Service is recruiting Assistant Educational Psychologists to support the delivery of our innovative Experts at Hand offer as part of ongoing SEND reforms. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded and supportive Educational Psychology Service that works at individual, group, organisational and strategic levels across Trafford.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Hold a Psychology degree at 2:1 or above (or equivalent BPS-recognised qualification)
- Are eligible and committed to applying for Doctorate training in Educational and Child Psychology
- Have significant experience working with children, young people and families in paid and/or voluntary roles
- Can demonstrate how psychology has informed their practice
- Have experience working in or alongside educational settings
- Possess excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Are able to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively
- Are enthusiastic, reflective and committed to inclusive practice
Whether your experience comes from education, youth work, SEND services, mental health support, children's services or another relevant field, we would welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate a strong commitment to applying psychology in practice.
- An enhanced DBS Check with children/adults barred list will be required.
- Any appointment made to this role will be subject to the appointable candidate being vetted under Greater Manchester Police clearance processes. A requirement of the vetting process is a minimum of 3 years residency in the UK.
- You will be required to drive in this role. You will be asked for a copy of your driving license as part of the recruitment process.
