Job summary

City of Doncaster Council is recruiting Assistant Educational Psychologists to join the Educational Psychology Service in Doncaster. The role involves supporting psychologists to promote inclusion, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people across schools and settings.

Two posts are available: Permanent, Full-time 37 hours per week and Temporary, Full-time 37 hours per week, with a competitive Soulbury salary scale and enhanced DBS checks required.

Assistant Educational Psychologist

Our Assistant Educational Psychologists play a key role in supporting the Educational Psychology Service to promote inclusion, participation, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people across Doncaster. Working alongside qualified Educational Psychologists and ASCETS teachers, you will contribute to the application of psychology within schools, settings, families and wider systems to help ensure that all children and young people can thrive.

This is an exciting new role and offers opportunities to work at individual, group, organisational and systems levels, supporting the development of inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming practice across educational settings. You will contribute to consultation, assessment, intervention, training, project work and service development, with a particular focus on strengthening schools' capacity to meet the needs of children and young people with social communication differences.

You will join a service and wider directorate that is committed to improving outcomes through collaborative, evidence-informed and strengths-based practice. We are passionate about understanding children and young people within the contexts of their relationships, environments and communities, and work closely with schools and partners to build inclusive systems that enable every child to belong, participate and achieve.

As part of our service delivery model, you will contribute to Pyramid Planning Meetings and other consultation-based approaches that bring together education, health, social care and families to develop collaborative, solution-focused responses to children's strengths and needs. You will work alongside schools, partner agencies and Children's Services to support high-quality assessment, planning and implementation of outcomes-focused support.
