You will drive pensions administration, investment and funding strategy, governance, and risk management, while advising the Pensions Committee and Local Pension Board and representing the Fund externally.
Is your next career move a visible and influential leadership role? Are you ready to be one of the first statutory LGPS Senior Officers in local government?
We’re recruiting a Head of Pensions and Treasury to act as the Council’s designated LGPS Senior Officer and lead the effective stewardship of our Pension Fund.
This is a rare opportunity to take on one of the first statutory LGPS Senior Officer roles created under the 2026 Governance Regulations and establish how strategic pension leadership operates within a modern administering authority.
You will bring together every dimension of the LGPS function, including:
You’ll also represent the Fund within the Council’s senior leadership arrangements and externally with the London CIV, regulators, advisers, auditors, government and sector partners.
The role also leads the Council’s treasury management responsibilities, providing strategic oversight of borrowing, investment, liquidity, prudential indicators and long-term capital financing.
You will be an experienced and credible pensions leader who understands the scale of responsibility involved in overseeing an LGPS fund, and will be comfortable operating with senior officers and elected Members, able to provide constructive challenge and committed to developing a high-performing, resilient and member-focused service.
An accountancy qualification is not a prerequisite. We are equally interested in candidates who offer substantial senior pensions governance experience, supported by strong knowledge of LGPS administration, investment, funding, governance and risk.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
