Job summary

Bexley Council seeks a high-impact Head of Pensions and Treasury to act as the Council’s designated LGPS Senior Officer and lead the Pension Fund’s stewardship. This is a landmark role under the 2026 Governance Regulations.

You will drive pensions administration, investment and funding strategy, governance, and risk management, while advising the Pensions Committee and Local Pension Board and representing the Fund externally.

Qualifications

• Senior pensions governance experience.
• Strong knowledge of LGPS administration, investment, funding, governance and risk.
• Ability to operate with senior officers and elected Members.
• Enhanced DBS check may apply.

Responsibilities

• Lead the LGPS Fund as the designated Senior Officer and steward pension fund strategy.
• Represent the Fund within the Council’s senior leadership and externally with regulators and partners.
• Oversee treasury management responsibilities including borrowing, liquidity and capital financing.
• Provide professional advice to the Pensions Committee and Local Pension Board and oversee advisers and managers.
• Coordinate governance, assurance and compliance across the Pension Fund.
