Job description

Assistant Director of Sales | Full Time | Kings Cross | Competitive Salary DoE + Bonus & Benefits | Domestic & International Travel

At The Standard, we don’t just run hotels—we create cultural hubs, social playgrounds, and unforgettable experiences. Our spaces buzz with energy, inclusivity, and creativity, and at the heart of it all? Our incredible team. We don’t do cookie-cutter. We don’t do scripts. We do personality, passion, and individuality.

We believe that hotels should be more than just places to sleep—they should be destinations, experiences, and moments in time that guests remember long after they leave. That’s why we challenge the status quo, bringing bold ideas, unconventional luxury, and immersive culture to everything we do. Whether it’s a buzzing lobby, an unforgettable dining experience, or a rooftop that becomes the city’s go-to spot, we create spaces that are as dynamic as the people who visit them.

We’re now on the lookout for an Assistant Director of Sales who embodies our Anything but Standard ethos.

At The Standard, we celebrate individuality, diversity, and creativity. We believe in hiring people, not just CVs. If you’re ready to shake up the hotel sales game and be part of something truly unique, we’d love to meet you.

Your Role

As our Assistant Director of Sales, you will work in partnership with our Director of Sales and Global Sales teams at Hyatt to oversee our sales team and function in London. You will support the management of a small team of Sales managers, deputising in the absence of the Director of Sales; and be responsible for coaching and developing to ensure their targets are met and in line with the hotels’ wider sales objectives & strategies to maximize revenue across all market segments.

Your primary focus will be to develop and drive our Groups business, plus you will also personally be responsible for a number of our key accounts within the hotel. This will include the management of our sales tracking systems, databases, and the production of weekly and monthly sales reports. You will also support the annual RFP process on-behalf of the hotel.

Over the longer term you will play a key role in defining our revenue and sales budget with our Director of Sales and Director of Revenue and implement the annual sales plan and strategy through our sales team across all market segments in order to increase market share, average rate and RevPAR. You will also work closely with both the Revenue & Marketing Directors in the creation of promotions and packages to support transient and direct sales in order to achieve our monthly revenue forecasts.

As one of our senior sales leads on property, you will of course meet and entertain our key VIP clients, partners and travel managers, through individual dinners, or larger fam-trips which will allow you to showcase our property.

Your role will involve international travel in order to develop key markets; from within the UK, Europe and USA. This may include roadshows, sales calls and international travel trade fairs to promote not only The Standard, London but also our wider Lifestyle group. As we continue to expand our brand within Europe you will help develop our wider sales and business development strategy within the region to target key accounts travelling inbound to London along with future pan-European business leads for all Standard properties.

This is not a ‘Standard’ Assistant Director of Sales position so you will need to have miles and miles of personality and stamina, be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a high-volume, high-energy environment and able to work equally well both independently and as part of a team.

Do you have what it takes to be our Assistant Director of Sales at The Standard....

You will need to be a confident and proactive self-starter as we are ideally seeking an individual with a number of years’ experience in sales gained within the London Hotel sector.

In addition to this you will also need….

  • Minimum of 5 years Senior Sales experience ideally gained in a similar Assistant Director of Sales or Senior Sales role in the Luxury, ‘Lifestyle’ or boutique hotel sector
  • Exposure to a range of market segments is beneficial, however candidates must have prior sales experience in Groups/MICE
  • Candidates must have a solid understanding and detailed knowledge of the London Hotel market along with current trends
  • Have prior experience of supporting the development of revenue & sales budgets and hotel sales plans combined with a creative ‘blue sky’ approach in developing bespoke sales and promotional activities that deliver true ROI.
  • A varied and wide range of key business contacts within the Travel industry
  • Highly motivated and pro-active Sales person with strong business development focus
  • Prior experience of managing and coaching a sales team
  • Experience of producing a range of monthly business and sales reports
  • Prior experience of using the following systems Opera Cloud, Envision, RFP platform (Lanyon and HRS).

We are defined by our richness of personality and diversity of background and lifestyle so if you think you have what it takes to be our Assistant Director of Sales we’d love to meet with you.

All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates.
